Classroom Educator Training/OGA and Structured Literacy Teacher/IDA

The 30-hour training course introduces participants to the Orton-Gillingham multisensory reading approach and how to best use it in the classroom. The course follows the curriculum and guidelines of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.

Training materials are included in the registration fee and will be mailed one week prior to the course start date. Please be aware that materials will be sent to the address you register with. If registering someone other than yourself, please ensure that you include the correct mailing address. 

Dates: August 1st – 5th and 8th 

Times: 9am – 3pm EST 

Location: Livestream, Zoom

Orton-Gillingham is an instructional approach intended primarily for those who have difficulty with reading, spelling, and writing, especially those with language-based learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Trainees at the Classroom Educator Level, will be able to work with students within a classroom or small group using the Orton-Gillingham Approach.

Upon completion of the Edwards-Orton Gillingham 30-hour training course, trainees are eligible for:

  • Practicum opportunities for certification (additional cost)
  • Certification as a Classroom Educator by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators
  • Certification as a Structured Literacy™ Teacher by the International Dyslexia Association
  • Three graduate credits from Adams State University (additional cost)
